Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort

We recently went on a long weekend trip to Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort.  It was so much fun!  We really only had two full days there but we tried to squeeze in all the activities we possibly could at this wonderful resort.  The resort itself is situated between a marina and marshland on the Broadcreek River and is a little over a mile from the beach.  But don't let that discourage you!  When you make it to the beach, there is the Disney Beach House with a lot of amenities, including a pool, located on the beach for resort guests.  Disney describes the resort as "a warm home-away-from-home—fashioned after a 1940’s hunting and fishing lodge."  We found it to be a relaxed, old fashioned family fun atmosphere.  The staff were friendly and courteous just as you expect and admire from Disney.  We loved it!

ACTIVITIES
Like I said before, there is a lot to do!  We really want to return one day to just relax and partake in some of the activities we missed.  Here is an example of some of the activities they had while we were there:

Here is what we were able to accomplish in the two days we were there:

* Made shark tooth necklaces

* Made Mickey Tie Dye T-shirts

* Went to the beach both days (it was cold!!)

* Ate Mickey ice cream (twice!!)

* Went to the campfire and sang fun songs and roasted s'mores (Super Fun!!)

*Played shuffleboard, corn hole, and horseshoes :)

*Rented bikes and had lots of fun!
They give you a bike map to use which is really resourceful if you don't know the island.  We didn't go very far from the resort but it looked like there were a lot of trails.  I pulled our little one in a trailer, and our 10 year old rode tandem with my husband (she had so much fun!)   Our 13 year old rode on her own and had fun even when her mom backed into her with the 3 year old and made her fall!  I felt horrible about this!  She is such a trooper though, she got right back up with her scraped arm and leg and kept going.  Meanwhile, I couldn't believe that happened and still feel bad about it!

*Met Shadow and B'Lou
This guy is a lot of fun and has a big personality.  Not to mention, he made my daughter's day by asking her to bring her violin next time to play with him.  She thought that was awesome.
This is a photo of a postcard Shadow "signs" for you ;)

*Played billiards and checkers in the main lobby area (we also enjoyed a cookie and hot apple cider there, yum!!)

*Played on the playground and relaxed in a hammock

*Swam in the Big Dipper Pool and warmed up in the hot tub

*Hated leaving!! (especially at 4 AM!!)

THE ROOM
We had a two bedroom villa and it was extremely spacious for our family of 5.  The rooms have been recently renovated in a casual cottage type decor.   There were two bathrooms, which was nice.  The eat in kitchen area with the banquette was also nice, especially with the kids.  We loved the balcony with the marshlands view. You could access the balcony through the master bedroom or through the living room/kitchen area.   It was nice to go out in the morning and drink coffee on the porch.  There was also a washer and dryer.  Across from the washer and dryer there was a mudroom type feel with a bench and a shelf with several wooden pegs to hang things up.  And on the bench was this:
ADORABLE!!

Here are a few pictures of the room itself.  The lighting is a little bad, we didn't arrive until quite late!

THE FOOD
 We ate breakfast at Tide Me Over one day and thoroughly enjoyed our Mickey waffles!

We also ate lunch at Tide Me over one day;

We did not get a chance to eat at Signals.  We did get our Rapid Fill cups refilled at Signals while we were at the beach though.  Do be aware that both restaurants close between 4 and 5.  If you get a Rapid fill cup also be aware if you want hot cocoa or coffee you must do so before they close.  Sodas were available all the time outside of Tide Me Over.

Here is the menu of Tide Me over and Signals while we were there:

I can't wait to return to this resort one day and just relax and enjoy my family.

Our Big Day Out With Thomas

We had such a fun time visiting with our friends from the Island of Sodor!  My 3 year old son is obsessed with Thomas and Friends, so it was a dream day for him!!  There were several activities to keep us busy before our big ride with Thomas.  There was a tent with Thomas mechandise (we spent a lot of time there), a magic show, a really small miniature golf section (perfect size for small children), story telling, a bounce house, a crane demonstration and other activites.   We were able to meet and take lots of pictures with Sir Topham Hatt (the line to meet him was rather long but moved quickly...there was neither confusion nor delay ;))     Like I said, we spent a lot of time in the merchandise tent.  They had some great stuff!  I was glad we stopped there first because we picked up the little engineer cap and my sweet baby wore it all day :)  We also got a Thomas whistle, PEZ dispenser, A Day Out with Thomas ...

FROZEN on the Disney Wonder to Alaska

Frozen seemed to be the theme for us on this Disney Cruise.  When I saw the  Frozen Stateroom Experience on the Disney Cruise Gifts and Amenities  page, I knew my kids would love it!  And they did!!  It was so cute!  It included a large Olaf door magnet, hanging snowflakes throughout the room, a picture frame, an adorable and quite warm throw (which we used a lot), and a small Olaf pillow. Next up on this amazing Frozen voyage to Alaska was the fun scavenger hunt called Anna's Chocolate Chase. Here's how it works:  One night you are given a paper with the details of how to play and where to record your answers.  Then for the next 3 nights you are given 3 clues in the Navigator to find Frozen themed objects throughout the ship.  Once you have found all the clues you are rewarded with something yummy! SPOILER ALERT!! PRIZE REVEALED!!!   There was a Maypole dance party with cou...
