And We Are Off to Alaska....Disney Style!!

We were beyond excited for our cruise through Alaska's Inside Passage!  We had booked this cruise as soon as it became available but the dream of it goes back many years.  We couldn't believe it was finally time to board the ship!!  We made our way across the street to the Canada Place cruise terminal without having to tote our luggage (Thank you Fairmont Waterfront Hotel! )  Once we were through the security and the passport areas, we came to the lines to check in for the cruise.  The Castaway club line was longer than the regular line so we opted for the regular line.  This check in area is NOTHING like the Port Canaveral terminal in Florida!  Everything is temporary.  What seating they had were folding chairs and the check in areas were all little kiosk type desks on wheels.  It was a completely different experience.  They did have Characters in the corner on the left hand side as you enter the check in area but we didn't get a chance to visit them. This is a

Capilano Suspension Bridge Park

On our first full day in Vancouver we decided to explore the  Capilano Suspension Bridge Park .  I have to admit I was a little apprehensive about this adventure but it turned out to be a splendid time! We caught the free shuttle right across the street at Canada Place and it wasn't long before we were there.  The bus driver did a great job of telling us about the sites along the way. When you first go into the park there are large story books giving you the history of the suspension bridge and the area.  I would have loved to read all the pages but the kids were eager to go into the park.  I tried to skim the walls and speed read the books but I don't think I retained much.....actually I was probably just stalling from crossing that crazy high bridge (230 feet high) that was dangling 450 feet across the Capilano River!!  Did I mention I don't really care for bridges?   It turned out it wasn't time to cross the bridge yet :)  When you go into the pa

Fairmont Waterfront Vancouver

Before our Cruise to Alaska on the Disney Wonder, we stayed two nights right across the street from the cruise terminal (Canada Place) at the Fairmont Waterfront .  This hotel and it's staff are phenomenal!  We stayed in a Fairmont Gold West Coast Suite which was nicely appointed and plenty spacious for our family. The hotel even has it's own rooftop garden and beehives!  You can go on a tour of these (which we did) and even get a sample of the hotel's honey at the end of the tour. Now about the Fairmont Gold: They have food offerings throughout the day including a complete breakfast, afternoon snacks and evening offerings.  The lounge is spacious with indoor and outdoor seating.  The outdoor seating has beautiful views!! We enjoyed sitting outside watching the seaplanes take off and having a coffee.  The staff was VERY friendly and attentive.   They brought smiles to my son's face numerous times with the cookies, stickers
